“So Gay” Saga Continues? Migrates to Upstate?
August 6, 2008
As a whole, South Carolina may no longer be “so gay,” but can the same be said for various regions of the state?
Apparently it can — at least in the Upstate.
After all of the hullabaloo concerning the “South Carolina is So Gay” European tourism ad campaign first brought to light by Palmetto Scoop’s Adam Fogle, I couldn’t help wonder if the issue spread to the Upstate when I saw a billboard in Spartanburg County that read, “I was blown away” and gave a corresponding web site.
Well, the picture and video of Catherine Bell pretty much cleared that up.
As it turns out the billboard and web site are parts of a promotional campaign telling people, “The Upstate is purddy, and it’s a nice place to bring up your young-uns or build a BMW.”
With that mystery solved, are you asking yourself, “Since that billboard had nothing at all to do with the controversy and it only promotes part of our state to tourists, visitors, relocating residents, and economic development types, was there a purpose to this post?”
Well, yeah. That should be obvious. Didn’t you see Catherine Bell?
