The DSCC is an Apparent Product of SC Public Schools. New Ad Offers Flawed Math and Faulty Logic.
If you haven’t seen the ad, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has it out for Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC).
In its latest television ad critiquing her effectiveness, citing Roll Call’s “power rankings” the DSCC claims that Liddy Dole ranks 93rd among her colleagues.
“Only six other senators ranked less effective,” the ad claims.
First, I either missed the constitutional convention or somebody’s math is off.
100 senators – 93 senators = 7 senators. (NOTE: I’m aware there was an open seat, but there are still 100 positions in the Senate).
Second, Roll Call notes that among “the general factors affecting this member’s score,” she has “too few terms or years in office in Congress to have significant clout.”
Let me understand this.
The DSCC expects voters to elect a new senator who would have even fewer years or terms in office and would be even less effective?
If “effectiveness” is more important than ideology, wouldn’t the DSCC want Senator Dole to remain in office to gain the seniority she needs for the people of North Carolina?
Nice work, DSCC.

Our Thoughts and Prayers are with You, Rod.
It’s not necessary to agree with people to feel for them. Additionally, sometimes it’s other people’s situations that make us step back and take inventory of our own lives.
Today is a prime example of that.
Like so many, the gang here read the FITSNews posts (HERE and HERE) discussing Rod Shealy’s recent discovery of a cancerous brain tumor.
Then we read Rod’s blog as he described the the events of the past few days.
None of us know him. We’ve never even met him. Nevertheless, his news caused us to sit down and talk about what was going on — especially in light of the fact that both Senator Ted Kennedy and Robert Novak are facing similar battles.
After talking about it, we came up with two things to post here.
First, Rod, you are in our thoughts and prayers. May the Lord guide you safely through your treatment and may He comfort you, your family, and your friends through the months ahead.
Second, we hope that this reminder helps us remember that if someone someday tells us, “the news is not what we hoped for,” we don’t want to look back on our respective pasts regretting things we said, didn’t say, did, or didn’t do.
Take care of yourself, Rod. Get well soon.

Ooooh. Erin Brockovich.
I don’t know if you care or not, but I read a news release today stating that activist Erin Brockovich has the keynote address at this week’s South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association convention in Hilton Head.
NOTE: If you want to see what she looks like with a face, click HERE. She’s less unappealing than you might think.
Anyway, after I finished reading the release, there was a great line that read, “Press are asked to check in at the media registration desk and should note that neither Mrs. Brockovich nor her personnel may be recorded, broadcast, televised, filmed, photographed or webcast during the convention.”
To loosely translate, that means, “We want you to come, but we don’t want you to document what’s going on in case it could be used against us later unless of course you want to pay for an autograph or picture because that would be OK. Everyone has a price — even altruistic activists.”
