It List. Hit List. S_it List.

At one time or another, we’ve all been on one of these three lists for someone somewhere, so why is Columbia’s Free Times – always a value at twice the price – acting like it just found the second gunman in Dallas?
SC Hotline has the story posted, and so does The Palmetto Scoop. Even Sic Willie as the article’s subject addresses it.
Let’s assume that most of the article is true. From Will Folks’ own blog, I’d say we’re safe in assuming, so my question is, “What’s the big deal?”
I know it’s not kosher for a sitting governor to go after legislative unfriendlies, but if you think about it, there’s no difference between what he’s allegedly doing and what Joe and Jane Voter can do in recruiting and financing candidates for office.
While I know a lot of people who are, personally I’m not a huge proponent of term limits like I used to be way back when. I’m one of those people who says, “We already have term limits. They’re called elections.”
To that end, what’s really wrong with what the story alleges the governor is doing and what other coalitions or other voters do? I remember a few years I read about a group in the Upstate that didn’t like the way its county council was operating, so they raised nearly $200,000 to oppose several council members.
It was a group with a certain philosophy, the council members didn’t agree with that philosophy, the group told voters about those council members’ positions, and all but one of the members lost reelection
Why are public discourse and issue education suddenly bad?
Governor Sanford has no love for the General Assembly. He’s made that pretty clear.
General Assembly members have no love for Governor Sanford. They’ve made that pretty clear, and when it’s all said and done, we still get to elect them all (or not).
All 124 seats in the House are up this year. All 46 seats in the Senate are up this year.
Out of 170 legislative seats standing for election this year, a total of 31 are alleged targets (4 of the 31 are open anyway). That’s an ambitious number of districts to impact, but if the people in those seats are not representing their districts to the satisfaction of the voters, the people will speak and impose their term limiting powers. That’s why the system works.

[...] Senator Ritchie, that took guts — especially since the bill’s rationale for existing is that many of its sponsors are on the governor’s so-called “hit list.” [...]
